Broadband Services Optimization and Support
The following information may assist you in getting the best possible experience out of your BTInet Broadband services. Because of variables outside of our control (including your physical location, computer configuration, etc.), some of the steps listed may or may not improve the quality of your connection.
Unable to Connect or Browse
If you are currently unable to connect or browse using your DSL or Fixed Wireless Service the first thing you should try before contacting the help desk is to reboot your equipment. In most instances rebooting your equipment will resolve your connectivity issue.
DSL Users
- Unplug the power cord from the back of your Qwest provided Cisco or ActionTec DSL Gateway for 30 seconds.
- Plug the power cord back in and wait an additional 30 seconds for a connection to reestablish before trying to access your Internet connection again.
- If you are still unable to connect, it may be necessary to reboot your computer, server, and or the router setup on your network.

Fixed Wireless Users
- Unplug the power cord and the "network" cable from the SmartBridge Powershot cable for 30 seconds.
- Plug the power cord and "network" cable back in and wait an additional 30 seconds for a connection to reestablish before trying to access your Internet connection again.
- If you are still unable to connect, it may be necessary to reboot your computer, server, and or the router setup on your network.

Speed Test
We recommend conducting a speed test before continuing with any of the changes outlined on this page. Conducting this test now will allow you to better gauge if there is an improvement from the changes you make. Because this test is conducted over the Internet, you may want to run more than one test from different locations to get a more accurate idea of your connection speed over the Internet itself. After you have tried some of the steps on this site you may want to run the speed test again to see if there is a noticeable improvement.

DSL Users
- If you run the speed test on this site and feel you are not getting the speed of service you were expecting, your first point of contact would be to Qwest. The type of service you selected with Qwest controls the maximum speed of your service.
- Need Advanced Configuration Information for your Qwest provided DSL equipment? Looking for a firmware upgrade? Check out Qwest's DSL Modem Support page.

Fixed Wireless Users
- If you run the speed test on this site and feel you are not getting the speed of service you were expecting, contact the BTInet Help Desk for further assistance.
