Netscape Navigator 8 or 9 and Support of Netscape 7

Date Posted: July 17, 2007

Netscape Navigator 8 and 9

Netscape has released versions 8 and 9 of its Netscape browser. Because these are both standalone browsers without e-mail support, we have decided to not distribute these browsers to our customers. Also, for this reason, the Help Desk will only be able to provide limited "best effort" support on these browsers if you decide to install them on your computer.

Support of Netscape 7

Depending on where you go on the Internet in Netscape 7, you may have noticed that some sites are recommending you update to a newer version of Netscape. If you decide to update, please keep in mind the above information about Netscape Navigator 8 and 9.

As Netscape 7 becomes outdated, and Web site designers move to newer technologies not supported by Netscape 7, the Help Desks ability to offer technical support of this product will become limited. Because of this, you may need to look at other browser options to be able to access these newer sites. It is our recommendation to use the preinstalled versions of Internet Explorer and Outlook Express already on your computer. If you have been, and continue to allow Windows Update to run on your computer, you should have the latest supported versions of these applications. Information on how to configure Internet Explorer and Outlook Express can be accessed on our Browser Software Updates and Instructions site.
