Limited Support of Windows 98 and ME

Date Posted: March 28, 2007

After careful deliberation, the BTInet Help Desk has decided to begin offering limited support of the Windows 98 and ME Operating Systems. This decision is based in part on the fact that Microsoft has discontinued product support of these Operating Systems as of July 11, 2006. According to Microsoft, support of these Operating Systems was discontinued because Windows 98 and ME "are outdated and can expose customers to security risks." Also, many computer vendors have or are in the process of no longer providing support of Windows 98 or ME.

What does this mean to you?

It is strongly recommended that you consider upgrading your Windows Operating System to a more current and up-to-date version. The BTInet Help Desk will continue to provide limited "best effort" tech support to those users using these Operating Systems through June of 2007.

We apologize for any inconvenience this decision may cause you; however, we do feel that this is a necessary step for us to provide the best possible level of support to the majority of our subscribers who are no longer using these Operating Systems.
