Why am I not connecting at the 256k or 1.5Mb speed my service plan says I should?
The actual throughput and connection speed of your service depends on a number of factors such as, but not limited to:
- Phone line quality
- Network utilization
- Internet traffic and congestion
- The speed of the servers for the Web sites you are trying to connect to
- Home networking or corporate LAN traffic and congestion
Qwest configures your phone line so that it may achieve the maximum speed available - up to 256k or 1.5MB. Due to the conditions listed above, not all lines can support the full speed listed.
