How do I configure my DSL modem as a router?

BTInet supports a single computer connected to the Internet and does not support the setup and configuration of your modem to support a network environment. The following information is offered to provide you directions in how to setup a network environment on your own. BTInet assumes no liability for the use of the following information and provides no warranties regarding the use or accuracy of the information conveyed.

2Wire 2700 HG 2Wire 2700 HG Modem

  • Multiple wireless connection can be established by utilizing the wireless capabilities of the Qwest provided 2Wire 2700 HG modem. If your computer does not have built in 802.11b/g support, you may need to purchase a wireless card for each computer you want to connect to the wireless network. See Article DSL026 - How do I configure the 2Wire 2700 HG modem for wireless networking?
  • You may also create a wired Ethernet connection using the built-in four-port switch.

Actiontec GT701  GT701 DSL Modem

  • You can create a wireless network by purchasing a wireless access point at most computer retail stores. If your computer does not have built in 802.11b/g support, you may need to purchase a wireless card for each computer you want to connect to the wireless network.
  • You may also create a wired Ethernet connection by purchasing a hub or switch at most computer retail stores.

Actiontec GT701-wg GT701-wg DSL Modem

  • Multiple wireless connections can be established by enabling the wireless capabilities of the Qwest provided Actiontec GT701-wg modem.  If your computer does not have built in 802.11b/g support, you may need to purchase a wireless card for each computer you want to connect to the wireless network. See Article DSL024 - How do I configure the Actiontec GT701 modem for wireless networking?
  • The Actiontec GT701-wg also supports a wired Ethernet connection with the addition of a hub or switch. You can purchase a hub or switch at most computer retail stores.

Actiontec 1520/1524 Gateway  152x DSL Modem

Cisco 675/678 Modems   Cisco 67x DSL Modem

  • You can create a wireless network by purchasing a wireless access point at most computer retail stores. If your computer does not have built in 802.11b/g support, you may need to purchase a wireless card for each computer you want to connect to the wireless network.
  • You may also create a wired Ethernet connection by purchasing a hub or switch at most computer retail stores.
