How to Disable Idle Disconnect
If you are experiencing problems getting disconnected from the internet, you can try to Disable Idle Disconnect.
Windows ME
- Double Click My Computer
- Click Dial-Up Networking
- Right Click on your Dialer Icon
- Click Properties
- Click on the Dialing Tab
- Uncheck Enable idle disconnect
- Click OK
Windows 2000
- Double Click My Computer
- Click Network and Dial-Up Connections
- Right Click on your Dialer Icon
- Click Properties
- Click on the Options Tab
- Set Idle time before hanging up to never
- Click OK
Windows XP
- Click Start
- Click Connect to
- Right Click on your Dialer
- Click Properties
- Click on the Options Tab
- Set Idle time before hanging up to never
- Click OK
Windows Vista
There are two places to make this change in Windows Vista; Dialer Properties and Internet Options.
Windows Vista Dialer Properties
- Click Start
Click Control Panel
- If set to Control Panel Home
- Click Network & Internet
- Click Network and Sharing Center
If set to Classic View
- Double Click Network and Sharing Center
- Click Manage network connections
- Right Click your BTInet Dialer
- Click Properties
- Click on the Options tab
- Set Idle time before hanging up to never
- Click OK
Windows Vista Internt Options
- Click Start
Click Control Panel
- If set to Control Panel Home
- Click Network & Internet
- Click Internet Options
If set to Classic View
- Click Internet Options
- On the Options tab, Click the Settings button
- Click the Advanced button
- Un-check Disconnect if idle for (20) minutes
- Click OK
- Click OK
- Click OK
