How do I manage the contents of the "Spam Quarantine Summary" e-mail or "Quarantine Inbox?"

Spam Quarantine Summary

If you have just one message showing in your Quarantine Summary e-mail, you can click one of the following Action items for that e-mail:

  • Deliver – Removes the message from Quarantine and delivers it to your normal mail program’s Inbox. Do not use this option if you want to Whitelist the message; or, log into the filter for more advanced options listed under the Quarantine Inbox section for this specific e-mail.
  • Whitelist – Adds the sender’s e-mail address to the Whitelist for your customized Spam Filter. This allows any future e-mails from this sender to go through to your mail program’s Inbox without being quarantined, unless the message contains a known virus.
  • Delete – Permanently removes the message from the system, preventing you from being able to recover it or receive that message in your mail program’s Inbox. Do not use this option if you want to Whitelist the message; or, log into the filter for more advanced options listed under the Quarantine Inbox section for this specific e-mail.

If you have more than one message showing in your Quarantine Summary e-mail, or you want to do more with the message than Deliver, Whitelist, or Delete it, you will want to click on the “To view your entire quarantine inbox or manage your preferences” link at the bottom of the e-mail to log into the Spam Filter itself.

Quarantine Inbox

After you log into the Spam Filter, you will automatically be taken to the Quarantine Inbox tab. From here you can perform the following Action items for each individual e-mail by clicking the Action listed to the right of the e-mail message; or, you may select multiple e-mails by placing a check mark at the beginning of the messages and clicking the following Action items at the top or bottom of the page.

  • Deliver – Removes the messages from Quarantine and delivers them to your normal mail program’s Inbox. Do not use this option if you want to Whitelist a message, or classify it as Spam or Not Spam.
  • Whitelist – Adds the sender’s e-mail address to the Whitelist for your customized Spam Filter. This allows any future e-mails from this sender to go through to your mail program’s Inbox without being quarantined, unless the message contains a known virus.
  • Delete – Permanently removes the messages from the system, preventing you from being able to recover them or receive those messages in your mail program’s Inbox. Do not use this option if you want to Whitelist the message, or classify it as Spam or Not Spam.
  • Classify as Spam – Permanently removes the messages from the system, preventing you from being able to recover them or receive those messages in your mail program’s Inbox. Classification also teaches the Spam Filter what your personal viewpoint is on messages so that it may better filter out unwanted e-mail.
  • Classify as Not Spam – Removes the messages from Quarantine and delivers them to your normal mail program’s Inbox. Do not use this option if you want to Whitelist the sender of the message. Classification also teaches the Spam Filter what your personal viewpoint is on messages so that it will not filter out wanted e-mail.
